On the morning of 1 November 2025, the opening ceremony of the 2025–2026 Student Sports Games took place on the artificial turf pitch of Tay Bac University. This year’s Games were held in a festive, enthusiastic atmosphere of emulation to celebrate the University’s 65th founding anniversary (1960–2025), with male and female student teams from seven faculties competing in football, volleyball, badminton, stick-pushing, athletics, tug of war and more. Matches were held at weekends over one month from the opening day.
Opening the Games, Dr. Hoang Ngoc Anh, Vice Rector and Head of the Organising Committee, outlined their purpose and significance. Although the Student Sports Games are an annual event, this year’s edition was special as an occasion to celebrate the University’s 65th anniversary. She encouraged athletes to compete enthusiastically, creating fine images that demonstrate solidarity, team spirit, determination and fighting spirit while ensuring absolute safety. She also asked the Organising Committee to prepare the conditions well and the referees to perform their duties fairly and objectively, so that the Games would be joyful, safe, economical and effective in helping students stay healthy after demanding hours of study, with match schedules arranged so as not to affect students’ learning.
Representatives of the athletes and the referees took the oath before the Games officially began.
After the opening ceremony, men’s and women’s football was held first, with teams playing according to the draw. After two weeks of matches at weekends and in the afternoons after classes, the football tournament closed on 15 November with well-deserved results. The finalists had come through fierce group-stage matches to win medals and trophies, and this year’s final was broadcast live on the Phui 26 channel, adding to the occasion and promoting the University’s sports festival.
While football has ended, the 2025–2026 Student Sports Games continue with volleyball, badminton, table tennis, stick-pushing, tug of war and athletics until 6 December 2025.
