On 4 September 2026, Tay Bac University welcomed 72 Lao international students sponsored by the budget of Son La Province who had completed the Vietnamese language programme and officially enrolled for the 2026–2027 academic year. The event is of practical significance for training human resources for Laos and contributes to nurturing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos, as well as the close ties between Son La Province and the northern provinces of Laos.
Attending the programme on behalf of Tay Bac University were Dr. Do Hong Duc, Vice Rector; representatives of the leadership of functional units, including the Office of Science, Technology and International Cooperation, the Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of Political Affairs and Student Management, the Dormitory Management Board and the Lao Student Representative Board, together with representatives of faculty boards, academic advisors and faculty assistants. Notably, the programme was attended by the 72 Lao students who had completed the Vietnamese language programme and were officially beginning their specialised studies at the University.

Speaking at the programme, Dr. Do Hong Duc, Vice Rector, warmly welcomed the 72 new Lao students. He emphasised the importance of training Lao students and encouraged them to integrate proactively into their new learning environment, to keep striving in their studies and personal development, and to build their professional knowledge so as to become active contributors and bridges that strengthen the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos. He affirmed that Lao students have become important members of Tay Bac University; their presence not only enriches the cultural and academic life of the University but also reflects its increasingly broad and deep international integration in education and training.

As part of the programme, a formal handover of students from the functional units to the representatives of the academic faculties took place. The 72 Lao students were assigned to six faculties: the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology, the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Foundation Studies, the Faculty of Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Primary and Preschool Education.

The welcome and enrolment ceremony for Lao students in the 2026–2027 academic year took place in a solemn, warm and joyful atmosphere. For the 72 Lao students, it marked an important milestone: the start of their specialised studies at Tay Bac University after completing the Vietnamese language programme. The students expressed their joy and pride at becoming new students of the University and their determination to study hard and successfully complete their courses. The programme was not only an activity to welcome the new academic year but also a highlight of the University’s external relations and international cooperation, affirming its role in training human resources for the northern provinces of Laos and continuing to nurture the special friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, the two States and the peoples of Viet Nam and Laos.
