Implementing the University’s Plan No. 2097/KH-ĐHTB of 20 November 2025, on 21 November 2025 Tay Bac University was honoured to welcome a delegation from the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic for a visit and working session. The delegation comprised Dr. Khamtanh Somvong, Education and Culture Counsellor, and Dr. Bounpone Keophengla, Second Secretary of the Education and Culture Section. Also attending were representatives of the Son La Department of Education and Training – Dr. Mai Anh Duc, Head of the Education Quality Management Division – and of the Son La Department of Foreign Affairs. Tay Bac University was represented by Dr. Nguyen Van Dinh, Deputy Party Secretary and Rector; Dr. Do Hong Duc, Vice Rector; and leaders of relevant units, offices and faculties.
In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Nguyen Van Dinh thanked the Embassy delegation for visiting the University. He said that Tay Bac University currently manages and trains more than 5,000 students at various levels and in various disciplines, including 380 Lao students – a strong testament to the trust of the Lao Party, State and Embassy in the University. Throughout history, the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos have been painstakingly nurtured by generations of leaders and people of both countries; it is a faithful, steadfast relationship rarely seen in the world and an invaluable asset of both nations. Tay Bac University is proud to contribute to preserving and promoting this fine tradition by training human resources for Laos. The University’s leaders and staff regard every Lao student not only as a learner but also as an ambassador of Viet Nam–Laos friendship, carrying the responsibility of continuing and developing this special relationship in the future. The University highly appreciates the Embassy’s role in coordinating the management and support of Lao students, helping them settle down, study with peace of mind and achieve notable results, and hopes to continue receiving the Embassy’s support. Tay Bac University is committed to providing the best possible learning and living conditions so that Lao students can realise their potential and contribute actively to the development of Laos after graduation.
At the session, Dr. Do Hong Duc, Vice Rector, reported to the delegation on the results of training and managing Lao students in the 2024–2025 academic year, highlighting achievements, difficulties encountered and proposals for the coming period.
On behalf of the delegation, Dr. Khamtanh Somvong, Education and Culture Counsellor, highly appreciated the University’s thoughtful reception and thanked it for the attention given to Lao students. He discussed several issues related to management and training, suggested that the University continue to focus on improving the quality of training for Lao students, and proposed that both sides strengthen contact and closer coordination to promptly resolve any issues concerning Lao students.
As part of the programme, the delegation met all Lao students studying at the University in the Main Hall to listen to their opinions and aspirations regarding study and daily life.
The visit further consolidated the good cooperation between Tay Bac University and the Lao Embassy, opening up many opportunities for effective cooperation in training and supporting Lao students in the time to come.
