Tay Bac University originated from the Lower Secondary Teacher Training School of the Thai–Meo Autonomous Region, founded in 1960. Over 65 years, it has grown steadily into a cradle of quality human resources for the Northwest provinces. From a modest start with just 12 teachers in 1960, the University has trained and developed 12 associate professors, 182 doctors and nearly 350 master’s degree holders; it currently employs 6 associate professors, 87 doctors and more than 200 master’s degree holders. From a teacher training institution, it has developed into a multidisciplinary higher education institution with 25 undergraduate and 2 master’s programmes covering key fields that meet the region’s development needs.
