The “Journey from the Heart” continued to Son La, bringing a message of entrepreneurship for nation-building to border guards and university students.

Continuing its trans-Viet Nam journey, the programme brought the spirit of entrepreneurial aspiration to the highlands of Son La. On 6 April, stories of people who set great goals, started businesses and served the country were shared at Tay Bac University and Muong Leo Border Guard Station. The programme drew large numbers of Tay Bac University students, was warmly received by the University’s leaders and was welcomed in heart-warming fashion by the border guards of Muong Leo.

At Muong Leo Border Guard Station and Tay Bac University, books from the “Life-Changing Foundation” bookshelf (Start-up Nation, How to Win Friends and Influence People, Think and Grow Rich, Never a Failure – Always a Challenge, An Encouragement of Learning) were presented to soldiers and students.
Igniting the entrepreneurial spirit of the “forest flowers”
At Tay Bac University, Dr. Nguyen Van Dinh, Deputy Party Secretary and Rector, gave a heartfelt speech, affirming that “Journey from the Heart” is a revolution in mindset and thinking for the younger generation, with a strategic vision and a heart devoted to the Fatherland.
“‘Journey from the Heart’ has created an inspiring entrepreneurial ecosystem, where young people not only learn how to build wealth for themselves but also carry the noble mission of building a strong, influential and enduring Viet Nam,” Dr. Nguyen Van Dinh said.

The Rector also gave advice on the spirit of “entrepreneurship for nation-building” for specific fields of study. For teachers, entrepreneurship is not about profit but about enlightening minds and awakening pride and the aspiration for self-reliance in future generations – the greatest form of nation-building; for agriculture, it means awakening the potential of the land so that agricultural products become global brands.
“Start your ventures with gratitude and knowledge, to keep the forests green and bring prosperity to the land. Economics students, use the mindset of Think and Grow Rich to solve market problems for the ethnic communities of the Northwest. Health sciences students, use the empathy of How to Win Friends and Influence People to care for people’s health in the most difficult places,” the Rector said.

The talk show featured guests including Bui Quynh Hoa (Miss Universe Vietnam 2023), Doan Thu Thuy (Miss Sports Vietnam 2022), actress Minh Trang and singer Hoang Yen Chibi. Photo: Dinh Ha
During the exchange, the well-known guests shared real stories of overcoming adversity to pursue their goals. Doan Thu Thuy spoke about transforming herself from an office worker into someone who dares to think big: “When your mindset changes, your life changes too. Our job is to try our best to dare to think big and dream big, so that we can succeed and contribute to society.”
Bui Quynh Hoa offered a realistic and resilient perspective. Having gone through many competitions and failures in her career, she affirmed that faith and positive thinking are vital. Answering a student’s question about what to do when results fall short of expectations, she said sincerely: “I believe the universe sends us challenges because it trusts we can overcome them and learn from them. After each fall, you will grow much more than before.”

The “Life-Changing Foundation” bookshelf nurtures the spirit of service
Leaving Tay Bac University, the programme brought the spirit of entrepreneurship for nation-building to Muong Leo Border Guard Station, where entrepreneurship was defined through the creative approaches and new values that border guards promote among local people.

The “Journey from the Heart” convoy crosses rugged terrain to reach Muong Leo Border Guard Station
Muong Leo Border Guard Station is located in one of the most remote areas of Son La Province. With rugged terrain of high mountains and deep valleys, poverty remains, with over 40% of households poor and over 10% near-poor. Here, soldiers not only carry out military duties and border patrols but also go directly to villages to promote compliance with the law and support economic development.

Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Van Giap, Political Commissar of Muong Leo Border Guard Station, was moved to welcome the delegation. For him, the presence of the special convoy and the valuable books was an “unprecedented” event in the area.
“The books of ‘Journey from the Heart’ are very meaningful to us and can be applied in daily life. Some contents help us in our outreach work so that people know how to do business, get rich and strive to develop the local economy,” he said.

For young soldiers, stories of setting great goals help them train themselves to serve better, and the entrepreneurial spirit in the books supports their community outreach and the economic development of local people. They can directly motivate people to increase production and shift to higher-value industrial crops.
The books and stories of knowledge brought to the university lecture hall and the border guard station are not merely gifts but an affirmation of the programme’s wish to build a sustainable nation from the roots of aspiration and knowledge.

More than lessons in business or management, “Journey from the Heart” is awakening a new spirit of entrepreneurship, with wisdom as its foundation and service as its goal. When every individual carries the spirit of entrepreneurship, in whatever work they do, every small action becomes a brick in building the nation’s prosperity.
As the Rector of Tay Bac University concluded, a great spirit of ambition will help each individual become a “forest flower” of the Northwest – beautiful not only in appearance but also fragrant with wisdom.
