On the afternoon of 12 December 2025, at the Temple of Literature – Imperial Academy in Ha Noi, the Ministry of Education and Training, in coordination with the Hessen Office in Viet Nam, held a ceremony to award scholarships from the Hessen State Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts, through World University Service Germany (WUS), to outstanding students for the 2024–2025 academic year.
The Hessen Scholarship is one of the longest-standing and most continuous scholarship programmes in Viet Nam. Since 1991 it has awarded thousands of scholarships, with 250 to 300 granted each academic year to students from disadvantaged backgrounds with good academic results at universities, colleges and vocational schools nationwide. The scholarship not only helps students in difficult circumstances to strive in their studies but also serves as a bridge of friendship between Viet Nam and Germany.
At the ceremony, student Lo Thi Sen (class K64 Primary Education C), representing the 83 recipients from Ha Noi and neighbouring provinces, delivered a speech of thanks to the organisers. Three Tay Bac University students were honoured to receive this prestigious scholarship:
- Lo Thi Sen – K64 Primary Education C, Faculty of Primary and Preschool Education; GPA: 8.50
- Lo Minh Thuan – K63 Forest Resources Management, Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry; GPA: 8.80
- Lo Tuan Anh – K64 Literature Teacher Education, Faculty of Social Sciences; GPA: 8.62
Each scholarship is worth 216 euros (about VND 6.6 million). Each student also received a scholarship certificate signed by the Hessen State Minister of Higher Education, Research and the Arts.
The Hessen Scholarship provides practical support that helps students overcome difficulties and encourages generations of students to strive in their studies, research and personal development to achieve even greater success.
